Fertile Crescent is a giant strip of crescent shaped fertile land along the riverbed in the Middle-East. Mesopotamia (cradle of civilization) is located between two rivers Euphrates and Tigris. The history of Sumer and Akkad, two major city states were discussed today.
SWASTIKAS
Mesopotamia- On of the earliest appearance of the symbol, it was used as a symbol for new beginnings and creation and is associated with the Sun.
India- We have meaning of both the right and left-handed Swastika right being good and left being you are practicing black magic. We associate it with our Gods and draw it absolutely everywhere during our festivals, even on new appliances. It is believed that it brings prosperity and good luck.
Germany-Well Hitler spoiled it for everyone, the right-handed Swastika became a symbol of fear and terror across the world regardless of its counterparts having completely different meaning. It inspired fear and is now misinterpreted in western culture as being a supporter of Nazi Germany and Hitler’ ideology.
