TIME

We discussed how to capture moments today or rather an essence and atmosphere of a moment.

We were told to bring 3 narratives today. These narratives are to be converted into storyboards; we are to take pictures which capture the setting according to the thumbnail sketches we made.

The atmosphere of a photo can control the viewer and make him/her experience a certain emotion or trigger a memory.

We saw two videos, Daft Punk’s Around the World and Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice. The first one had the most synchronized and tightly woven groups dancing in a small space whereas the Weapon of choice had Christopher Walken going offbeat crazy in an empty hotel. The intent of both the videos were different and they did an awesome job presenting it to the viewer.

We also saw two animated shorts both of which gave us examples of pace and movement, camera shots, setting a mood through the environment setting in the video and showing emotions and converting simple narratives into stories.

We were going over Instagram accounts to get examples of good pictures and elements of it which help capture the photographer’s intent.

My narrative is that Mumbai trains can travel in Time and Space. An initiative started by Saturn Co. so that no one has to worry about getting anywhere on time again. People can also take vacations in time and visit their past. All this was the backstory considering the pretense that were going to draw comics or something. I have to capture all this in photos and take into account the passage of time and how I depict that.
