INTEGRATIVE STUDIO

22 August 2019/Class 3 & 4/Ms.Prarthana Patil

The faculty went through our 25 compositions and told us to explore other student’s work too. While going through other examples I notices that the representation was not suppposed to be limited to the visual cue we get from the compositions, we had to think of the composition in a 3D space i.e. imagine some lines along the z-axis too.

After review and discussion, the class moved on as an extension of the seminar session and we spoke about our metaphors. We were told to concentrate on the message our meatphors convey rather than how the beautiful and complex the words are.

The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics, an animated short film, revolving around a straight line which has a liking for the perfect and jolly dot. It explores how the line changes itself to become more complex from it’s normal linear self, the dot on the other hand which seems to spend its time having fun the squiggly line notices how the line has changed and and decides to be with it.

Beautiful and creative story, I am not sure what we were to derive from it. The line changes character for others to like him, the dot seems to stick to whatever is best for it, not sure how the line will feel about that in the long run when another, more fun line will come into the picture.
