We were assigned to do 20 human figure sketches by stepping out and capturing poses of people in our surroundings. The idea being that moving figures will have to be captured quickly. When I stepped out I didn’t have a lot of hopes of getting down the details or the flow of the sketches. While the sketches were still mediocre after half an hour I noticed that I have started observing other things around me.
-60% of the pedestrians were on their phones – Older men only had a few limited body poses and hand postures – No one even notices what other people around them are doing, like a kid sitting on a pavement drawing them. People who did notice me came up to see their sketches only to find a scribbled mess of Humanoid shapes and left with pity smiles and fake but sweet encouragment.
